Veneers - A beautiful cover up

What are veneers?

Veneers are an excellent solution for anyone who is attempting to cover their existing smile.  They are a popular choice for people who are self-conscious about their natural smile, and who have problems such as:

  • tooth size
  • gaped teeth
  • chipped teeth
  • tooth shape
  • discoloration
  • other minor flaws

Veneers can drastically enhance the appearance of your existing teeth by placing a very thin, custom shell over your natural teeth to mask their flaws.

What are the benefits of veneers?

Veneers are often used by patients who desire to achieve a perfect smile without having to be subjected to surgery or extensive and complex procedures.

Veneers are a thin porcelain-like shell which are custom-made to fit your natural teeth.  This highly durable shell will never stain/fade and produces a very natural, long lasting smile.  With proper care of your veneers, they can last up to a decade or even longer.  Being they are so thin, the shape and texture mimic the existing teeth making them essentially unnoticeable.

How do veneers work?

Usually no anesthetic is used since veneer preparation and placement is minimally invasive.   Dr. Day will slightly remove minimal amount of tooth structure to make space for the veneer and increase retention onto the natural tooth.

She will then take impressions which will be sent to the lab.  You and Dr. Day will decide on your desired shade, shape and size which the lab will create from your impressions.

Once the veneers are ready for placement, the veneers will be bonded with a high-strength adhesive to ensure essentially permanent retention.  You are now all set to smile away!

Veneers are an investment which will provided you with that  “Hollywood Smile” you have always desired!

How long does the placement procedure take?

Veneer placement typically takes place over two visits.

  • The time each visit will take depends on how many veneers a patient decides to have placed.
  • Following impressions, it typically takes between 1 - 2 weeks for your veneers to arrive from the lab.

How long will veneers last?

Veneers are very durable and on average last about 10 years.

  • Dental materials continue to become strong and more durable, so their life span may be longer
  • It is important to commit to good oral hygiene regiments and continue to visit the dentist to ensure maximum life of your veneers.

Am I a candidate?

It is very important to understand you must have healthy teeth and gums to be eligible for dental veneers.

Dr. Day can often times resolve certain issues which may prevent you from being a veneer candidate:

  • tooth decay
  • gum disease
  • root canal infection
